The NNN Ambassador Program is designed to empower patients, families, caregivers, and supporters to raise awareness of neutropenia, build community and advance NNN’s mission through meaningful, ambassador-led projects. Ambassadors serve as trusted voices who help advocate, raise awareness, and/or raise funds on behalf of the NNN.
What is the NNN Ambassador Program?
- Term Length: 2 years
- Each ambassador will design and complete at least one primary project during their term.
- Projects may be completed at any point during the two-year term.
- If an ambassador wishes to continue past the 2 year term with new projects, they are welcome to do so. While communicating with NNN at the end of a project, please discuss this desire.
Represent NNN with integrity and professionalism
Promote awareness, education, and support for the neutropenia community
Complete an approved ambassador project during their term
Collaborate with NNN staff and volunteers as needed
ach ambassador is encouraged to develop a project aligned with NNN’s mission. Projects may include (but are not limited to):
- Awareness campaigns (local, school-based, workplace, or online)
- Educational events or presentations
- Fundraising initiatives
- Community-building efforts (support groups, family meetups, peer connections)
- Social media or storytelling campaigns
- Advocacy or outreach to healthcare providers or institutions
Projects should:
- Be achievable within the two-year term
- Clearly connect to neutropenia awareness, education, or support
- Be appropriate for the ambassador’s age, experience, and resources
All projects must be reviewed and approved by NNN prior to launch.
Adult Ambassadors – Must be 18 years or older
Junior Ambassadors – Ages 13-17. Junior Ambassador must have a parent/guardian who will also be a point of contact with NNN.
Ambassadors Under Age 13 – Children under 13 may participate only as part of a family-led or parent-led ambassador project. A parent or guardian will serve as an Ambassador assisting as the point of contact with NNN and to oversee the project.
Examples of Ambassador Projects
All ambassador projects should align with NNN’s mission to raise awareness, educate, support families, and strengthen the neutropenia community. Projects may be adapted based on individual strengths, interests, and available support.
Example Project Ideas for Junior Ambassadors:
- Create a school-based awareness campaign (posters, announcements, or a health class presentation)
- Organize a neutropenia awareness day at school or youth organization
- Develop a social media or storytelling project highlighting life with neutropenia (with parental approval)
- Host a small fundraiser (bake sale, walk, lemonade stand) to benefit NNN
- Create age-appropriate educational materials for children newly diagnosed with neutropenia
- Participate in community events wearing NNN-branded materials and sharing literature
- Write a children’s book, blog, or short video explaining neutropenia from a youth perspective
Example Project Ideas for Families and kids under 13:
- Family-hosted neighborhood or school fundraiser
- Storytime or classroom visit led by a parent to explain neutropenia in simple terms
- Create care packages or encouragement cards for newly diagnosed families
- Participate in walks or awareness events as a family team
- Help design stickers, artwork, or messages of hope for NNN campaigns
Example Project Ideas for Adult Ambassadors:
- Host an educational session for patients, caregivers, or healthcare providers
- Lead a local support group or virtual meet-up
- Partner with local businesses or organizations to support NNN fundraising
- Develop content for NNN newsletters, blogs, or social media
- Organize an annual awareness or fundraising event in their community
- Advocate at local, state, or national levels for rare disease awareness
Adult Ambassadors may also serve in roles that directly support NNN operations, such as:
- Supporting event planning or logistics
- Helping with ambassador onboarding and mentorship
- Assisting with donor relations or outreach calls
- Providing professional expertise to assist with operations (legal, finance, communications, etc)
NNN recognizes that impactful projects come in many forms. Ambassadors may also propose custom projects that align with their experience and background.
All projects or advisory roles must be reviewed and approved by NNN prior to launch.
Support Provided by NNN
NNN is committed to supporting ambassadors throughout their term. Support may include:
- Educational literature and approved informational materials
- Branding guidance and approved logos
- Stickers and select promotional items (as available)
- Project brainstorming and planning support
- Social media amplification and visibility (when appropriate)
- General guidance and check-ins throughout the project lifecycle
